The Greater Metro Junior 'A' Hockey League has announced the 'Players of the Month' for November of the 2014-2015 hockey season.


 

The 'Players of the Month' honours is a distinction awarded to the player who is adjudged the best at his position & rookie through each month of the season.


 

Forward - Spencer Gourlay, Halton Ravens


 

The Captain of the Halton Ravens, Spencer Gourlay, has played a key role in turning the Ravens club into a contending club in the South Division. On the strength of Gourlay, the Halton club won 9 of their 10 contests in the month of November. The Ontario native is contending for the GMHL scoring lead with 62 points (25g, 37a) through 23 games.


 

A honorable mention should go to fellow Raven Shane Bennett -- who has recorded 46 points (26g, 20a) in just 12 games. Bennett spent the last four seasons in the OJHL, placing within the top 5 of the OJ's scoring the past two years.


 

Defenceman - David Savery, Tottenham Steam


 

The top defenceman from the first place Tottenham Steam has taken his game to a new level through November. David Savery has recorded 29 points (4g, 25a) in only 20 games from the Steam blueline. The Angus, Ontario native is in his final junior season after spending four years between the OJHL and GOJHL -- looking to win a championship with the expansion Tottenham team.


 

David has already made his college commitment to a top-end school & hockey program which will be announced shortly.


 

Goaltender - Braeden Turco, Niagara Whalers


 

The expansion Niagara Whalers goaltender Braeden Turco has played a prominate role this season. Turco is known league-wide as a goalie who can steal games against top-end teams and is improving through the year. The Sault Ste. Marie native has posted a 6-5-0 record with a .900save% with a shutout.


 

Rookie - Brandon Neto, Niagara Predators



Despite being only 16 years old, Brandon Neto of Ajax, Ontario is leading the Niagara Predators in scoring in just his first GMHL season. With 15 points (9g, 6a) in his first 20 junior games, Neto is quickly adjusting to the speed of junior hockey and excelling. Neto is a name that is already becoming recognized through the league and is poised to develop into a top-end player in the GMHL.
