The Niagara Predators made their presence felt across the GMHL this season, earning multiple league awards and honors that highlight the team’s commitment, work ethic, and winning culture.
Leading the way was Shane Kaplan, who captured the Best Defensive Forward – South Division award. Kaplan’s relentless play, two-way responsibility, and ability to impact the game in all three zones set the standard and made him one of the most trusted forwards in the division.
The Predators’ defensive excellence was further showcased by Rhys Jones, who earned 2nd Runner Up in the same category. His consistency, intelligence, and dedication to shutting down opponents played a key role in Niagara’s success throughout the season.
On the blue line, Nick Savoie received 1st Runner Up for Best Defenseman – South Division, a reflection of his leadership, reliability, and ability to perform in high-pressure situations. Savoie was also recognized with 2nd Runner Up for the Heart Award, underscoring the passion, grit, and determination he brings every night.
The Predators’ culture of respect and sportsmanship was acknowledged as well, with Jacob Zimmerman being named 2nd Runner Up for Most Sportsmanlike – South Division, representing the organization with class both on and off the ice.
Behind the bench, Robert Turnbull was honored as Best Coach – South Division, a testament to his leadership, preparation, and commitment to developing players while building a competitive and united team.
These honors are a source of immense pride for the Niagara Predators organization. From players to coaching staff, the recognition reflects a season built on hard work, accountability, and belief in one another. The Predators continue to set the standard, and this award-filled campaign is proof that the league has taken notice.
